The Ninth IIFA Awards Ceremony.





The ninth IIFA awards ceremony was held on 6th-8th June 2008 at the Siam Niramit complex in the heart of Bangkok city,Thailand. Nominations are announced by Amitabh Bachchan on Tuesday at New Delhi.



The nominated films are Jab We Met, Chak De India and Guru.
Bollywood Superstar King Khan ShahrukhKhan won the 'best actor ' award for "Chak De India" and a sports film that has many themes of religion and class "Chak De India" in which Shah Rukh Khan did the inspiring role as a hockey coach,won the 9 IIFA awards in various categories. Chak De was adjudged as the 'Best Film' of 2007.





Film producer Yash Chopra collected the 5 awards for the film "Om Shanti Om".
Kareena Kapoor recieved the award for her best acting in the film "Jab We Met" and made her credit as a 'Best Actress and Katrina Kaif won the Glamorous Diva title.

Best Actor in a Negative Role - Vivek Oberai (Shootout at Lokhandwala)
Best Actor in a Supporting Role - Irfan Khan (Life in a Metro)
Best Actress in a Supporting Role - Konkana Sen (Life in a Metro)
Best Lyricist - Javed Akhtar for the song 'Main Agar Kahoon' (Om Shanti Om)
Best Actor in a Comic Role - Govinda (Partner)
Best Cinematography - Chak De
Best Sound Recording and Sound Re-recording - Chak De
Best Editing - Chak De
Best Dialogue - Imtiaz Ali (Jab We Met)

Idea Style Icon Trophy - Abhishek Bachchan

The Idea Fresh Face of the Year - Neil Nitin Mukesh (Johnny Gaddar)
Lifetime Achievement Awards - Shyam Benegal and Mumtaz
The nearly three-hour extravanganza was marked by scintillating performances from Govinda, Katrina, Kareena, stars of films like Acid Factory, Mission Istanbul, De Taali and Love story 2050.





The highlight was the finale by Akshay Kumar who made a dashing entry on stage by sliding down a cable from a corner of the auditorium. He performed a number from his forthcoming film 'Singh is King'.
